Deakin University hosted international partners from across the globe last month - including India, Sri Lanka, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Macau, the Philippines, Turkey and Cambodia as part of Transnational Education (TNE) Week celebrations.
Delegates from 18 institutions toured the University’s Burwood and Geelong campuses, experiencing Deakin’s facilities firsthand – with knowledge sharing workshops as well as demonstrations of research and teaching capabilities on display.
Supported by the Victorian Government’s Yes to International Students Fund (YISF), the initiative aims to assist public Victorian universities’ expansion of offshore education delivery through innovative international partnerships.
The Hon. Danny Pearson, Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, Victoria State Government joined Deakin Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin in welcoming the delegation.

Deakin Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin said that bringing together partners in real life to experience the University's facilities and expertise are key to strengthening and maturing existing transnational higher education connections.
‘I am excited to welcome such a diverse group of delegates from all over the world to experience life at Deakin. As Australia’s largest university excelling in education and research, we are uniquely placed to help our partners translate their global ambitions into action and look forward to seeing how this advances our collaborations,’ Professor Martin said.
Throughout the week, participants gained valuable insights into two-way capability development opportunities through one-on-one engagement with academics, panel discussions and demonstrations at campus facilities.
John Molony, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice President (International), Deakin International, said initiatives like TNE Week support Deakin’s broader international vision and purpose, brought to life in its recently launched International Plan.

Under the YISF, Deakin University has been awarded funding to deliver two complementary subprojects focused on TNE partnership growth and TNE academic collaboration, TNE Partners Week and TNE Academic Collaboration Week, delivered in parallel.
This project was made possible by funding from the Yes to International Students Fund, a Victorian Government initiative.
