Bachelor of Laws

Juris Doctor
Delivered 100% online, the Deakin Juris Doctor is a comprehensive, practise-focused, legal education for non-law graduates. A policy focus and practical experiences prepare you for legal practise or a range of career opportunities.
Bachelor of Laws (Honours)
Deakin's one-year honours program offers high-achieving law graduates the chance to explore a legal topic through in-depth research, under expert supervision. Hone your analytical and writing skills and boost your career or pursue further studies such as the law PhD.
Law PhD
Join our vibrant research community as a PhD candidate. Get expert research training and supervision from our leading scholars in fields including administrative, constitutional, energy, health, criminal and procedure, intellectual property, international and human rights.
Combine law and psychology
Develop legal expertise and psychological insight to understand human behaviour and justice systems with Deakin's new Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Psychological Science. This powerful dual qualification prepares you to practise law with a pathway to further study for registration as a psychologist. This course is available for Trimester 1 2026 applications.
Gain experience at Deakin Law Clinic
Deakin Law School operates the Deakin Law Clinic, a community legal service offering free legal advice. You’ll have the opportunity to assist in one of six practice groups, which cover: civil and commercial law, family law, employment law, criminal law, wills and estates, and policy advocacy.

Deakin Law School turned 30 in 2022
In 2022, Deakin Law School celebrated 30 years since its inception in 1992. In that time, the school has become an integral part of Deakin and our course offering has grown to be one of the best in Victoria.
