Brief Biography

Dr David Lee, Director, Historical Publications and Information Section, is a historian of Australian foreign policy, twentieth century Australian history, international history and the history of the British Empire and Commonwealth.

His publications include Stanley Melbourne Bruce: Australian Internationalist; Australia and the World in the Twentieth Century; Search for Security: The Political Economy of Australia's Postwar Foreign and Defence Policy; The High Commissioners: Australia's Representatives in the United Kingdom, 1910-2010 (co-ed.); and Evatt to Evans: The Labor Tradition in Australian Foreign Policy (co-ed.).

Prior to joining the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade he was an Associate Lecturer in Political Science, Faculty of Arts, Australian National University (1991-1994)

He is a graduate of the University of Newcastle (BA Hons) and Australian National University PhD and has been the General Editor of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Documents on Australian Foreign Policy series since 1997.
