From the 1st of January 2012 -

The restructure of ITRI has resulted in the parting of the three Centres (CMFI, BioDeakin and CISR). This restructure will allow each of the Centres to refocus on their core strengths and establish themselves as leaders in their fields.

• The Centre for Material and Fibre and Innovation is now known as the Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) and is under the directorship of Professor Peter Hodgson.
  
  
• The Centre for Intelligent Systems (CISR) is now an independent Strategic Research Centre, under the directorship of Professor Saeid Nahavandi.
  
  
• The Centre for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Sciences (Biodeakin) is a Strategic Research Centre, under the directorship of Professor Colin Barrow.
