Finding your own accommodation off campus is a great way to immerse yourself in the local community. Deakin’s Houseme website provides a database of local rooms, houses and apartments available to rent, near to each campus. We also have an off-campus housing service that can help you with using Houseme, filling out rental application forms, understanding your rights and responsibilities as a tenant and more. If you're an international student wanting to live off campus, you should only start looking for accommodation once you’ve arrived in Victoria.
Stay at Deakin
Our on-campus accommodation isn't just for students. We welcome academics, school groups, families and individuals to stay with us all year round at any of our campuses. Whether you're staying for a night, a week or a month, we've got a room to suit your needs, including a range of amenities specifically for guests staying on campus. If you're an international student, we recommend that you stay in short-term accommodation for at least the first week of your arrival while you look for long-term accommodation.
A homestay – staying with a local family in their home – is a great way to immerse yourself in Australian culture and the community while improving your English skills. You and your host will decide how long you stay. Homestay fees are $345–$360AUD per week and paid directly to your host prior to arrival. Interested in a homestay or have a question?
