Our commitment to Indigenous Australians
The inclusion of Australia’s First Nations Peoples in higher education is a core principle at Deakin University. Our campuses sit on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung, Eastern Maar and Wurundjeri Peoples. As custodians of more than 450 acres across four campuses, we recognise our responsibility to care for and protect these lands sustainably.
Indigenous education
Deakin offers courses that are relevant to the lives of First Nations Peoples and their communities and integrates Indigenous knowledges into all degrees. Through the National Indigenous Knowledges Education Research Innovation Institute (NIKERI), we offer courses that are grounded in shared cultural values and belief systems.
