How to support the art gallery
With your support, the Deakin University Art Gallery can continue its work to create a welcoming environment on campus, enrich the experience of university life and contribute to philosophical inquiry and creative research.
Ways you can make a difference
Community giving doesn’t depend on who you are or how much you give. When we give together, our generosity adds up to something powerful and creates lasting impact.
A gift in your Will, also known as a bequest, is a meaningful way to ensure your support continues into the future and helps sustain the Gallery for years to come.
Donating artworks is another way to contribute, helping to grow and enrich the Deakin University Art Collection.
‘We have around 56% of the collection on display, which is extremely high,’ explains Senior Manager Art Collection and Galleries, Leanne Willis. Many other institutions typically on average have around 5% of their collection on display, which is on a 10-year cycle. So if a work is represented in a typical institution’s collection, or is donated to their collection, it will probably only be seen once every 10 years.’ ‘However, at Deakin, we try and display as much as we can – both on the University campus for the enjoyment and appreciation of the University community and visitors to campus.’ Gifts can be made through the Cultural Gifts Program or as a direct donation.
You can also make a direct monetary gift to support the Gallery’s ongoing work, helping artists to thrive and ensuring the community can continue to experience new and inspiring works.
