Apply for an English language course
Applying to Deakin University English Language Institute is easy and our Admissions team is ready to process your application quickly. Acceptance into a English language course is subject to the results of your placement test. Your results will also determine the right course for you, including the level of study and duration. Make sure to apply as soon as possible as places fill up fast. Follow these simple steps:

Before you arrive
Before you begin your English language course in Australia, make sure to pay your fees, apply for a visa and arrange Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
How to pay your fees
You will need to pay your enrolment and orientation, and your tuition fees, when you enrol and before you begin your course. You can choose to pay your fees through Deakin's payment portal or use one of our online international payment providers.
How to apply for a visa
Once we have received payment of your course fees, we will send you a confirmation of enrolment (COE). This will allow you to apply for a student visa to study in Australia. You will then receive a Notification of Arrival form, which must be returned to us at least 10 days before you arrive in Australia.
How to apply for OSHC
If you are coming to Australia on a student visa, you need to arrange Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) before your studies begin. Your OSHC ensures you can access healthcare services in Australia, such as hospitals and doctors. OSHC is compulsory for students from most countries.
Orientation
Find out everything you need to know about studying at Deakin University English Language Institute. Orientation is held on campus for all new students studying in person. Once you receive and accept your offer to study with us, you will receive an email a week before your orientation. The email will include information on:
- setting up your Deakin username and password
- adding your contact details to Student Connect
- activating your Deakin Zoom account
- getting a student ID card
- the time of your orientation program.
