Title: An Insight into the Android Permission System
Abstract: The openness of the Android platform has played a big part in attracting a large number of application developers, which has led to an explosive growth in the number of
Android applications available on the official Android market and third-party markets alike. Consequently, this has brought about a major concern regarding the security and integrity
of the applications available to Android users. One of the measures adopted by Google to target the aforementioned issue is the implementation of an install-time permission system.
This presentation looks at the concept of install-time permission system which is embedded in the Android platform. I will talk about the challenges faced by both the
Android users and application developers in understanding the implications of the permission system, and also mention the current related research.
