The role of the Committee

The National Code Gender-based Violence Committee’s responsibilities include:

  • providing advice to Council on:
    • the direction and strategy for the University’s Prevention and Response Plan, and overseeing implementation of the plan
    • compliance by the University with the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence
  • providing governance oversight of the University’s policies, procedures, relevant surveys and activities which relate to gender-based violence
  • assisting Council to discharge its positive duties in respect of staff and student safety and wellbeing, in the context of gender-based violence.

Members

The Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor University Services may attend meetings of the National Code Gender-based Violence Committee with rights of audience and debate.
