Deakin Motion Lab
Research that moves. Research that moves us.
How we shape impact through motion
Established in 2006, Deakin Motion Lab is a transdisciplinary research hub connecting motion, moving image, immersive media and creative intelligence to address complex cultural, social and environmental challenges. We're interested not only in how research moves across forms and disciplines, but how it moves people, communities and ideas.
Our modes of practice
Our work is defined by four connected modes of practice:
Body, movement, performance and data as methods of analysis and creative inquiry.
Film, documentary, animation, VR/XR and screen-based storytelling.
Research that connects art, science, education, health and technology.
Work designed to create impact in communities, culture, industry and policy.
Immersive experiences reimagining screen technology
When you study a PhD or postdoctoral research with the Deakin Motion Lab, you'll be supported by renowned researchers.
We’re interested not only in how research moves across forms and disciplines, but how it moves people, communities and ideas.
