The School of Medicine has several rural, regional and metropolitan training locations across central and western Victoria, where students complete the third and fourth years of their medical degree.
Clinical experience is a crucial part of Deakin's Doctor of Medicine. In addition to our Year 1 and 2 Learning Campuses at Waurn Ponds, Ararat and Warrnambool, additional teaching, additional teaching sites have been established across Victoria to train students during the third and fourth years of their medical degree. Each site is aligned with hospitals, health services and clinics, including Barwon Health in Geelong, Eastern Health in Melbourne and the regional centres of Ballarat and Warrnambool, providing well-rounded clinical experiences for each student.
Deakin Medical School, Rural Communities (DMSR) also offers students the option of parallel consulting during their third year, via placements in smaller rural and regional towns.
Deakin Medical School, Ballarat – Grampians (DMSB) is located within Grampians Health – Victoria's second largest regional health service. Learn across acute, sub-acute and community settings working closely with healthcare professionals and the local community to expand your network and clinical learning experiences.
Eastern Health is located in many locations across Melbourne and is Victoria’s second largest health service. Our Medical Student Program is unique to Eastern Health Clinical School and allows you to be guided by a senior doctor academic during your clinical year.
