Pathways and programs to get you into health

Our faculty emphasises the importance of Indigenous and regional health care, and we provide several pathways for students from these backgrounds to study a health degree.

Indigenous Entry Stream

In partnership with the National Indigenous Knowledge Education Research Innovation (NIKERI) Institute, Deakin’s Indigenous Entry Stream offers entry streams exclusively for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to study an optometry, medical imaging, medicine or psychological science honours degree.

Regional and Remote Entry Scheme

Our Regional and Remote Entry Scheme is designed to address workforce shortages outside of the cities. If you are a regionally based Year 12 student, you may be eligible for a points adjustment to study a degree in sport science, medical imaging, nutrition science, occupational therapy, social work or optometry.

Deakin Rural Health

Deakin Rural Health (DRH) offers programs that assist both students and health professionals undertaking placements or working in rural Victoria. Whether you're a current Deakin student, studying elsewhere, or a working professional, we have a range of services that can help you make a greater contribution to the regional Victorian health sector.
