Establishing healthy habits early in life
Since 2008, the infant feeding, active play and nutrition program (INFANT) has been exploring the social, health and economic dividends we see when new parents establish positive habits around nutrition, active play and reduced screen team from the start of their baby’s life.
The mental health benefits of surfing
Surfing is a popular hobby, but did you know that there’s growing evidence that it’s also great for your mental health? Dr Lisa Olive is exploring surf therapy and its benefits such as improved self esteem and reduced social isolation.
Guiding parents on children's mental health
Studies show that mental illness usually begins in childhood, making early emotional development key for mental health. Deakin researchers are developing an app for adults caring for children aged two to five years to help them tackle their daily challenging moments.
It’s impossible to support your child when you’re feeling stressed and over-whelmed yourself. So, our programs teach parents and children strategies they can use together.
