  • Cash payments of up to $10,000 per year. Total scholarship value of $30,000.

Duration

  • This scholarship is awarded for three years.

Am I eligible?

Ensure you meet all criteria before submitting an application. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be:

  • a female domestic student
  • enrolled full-time in the first year of your bachelor degree in Trimester/Semester 2, 2026
  • enrolled in one of the following major sequences: journalism, politics and policy studies, media studies or marketing
  • undertaking on-campus studies at Geelong Waterfront or Waurn Ponds campus
  • a resident of the City of Greater Geelong (as per council boundaries)
  • experiencing an area of hardship.

Selection criteria

Preference will be given to applicants who have successfully completed their VCE in the City of Greater Geelong. 

Maintaining this scholarship

To retain this scholarship, you’ll need to

  • provide an introductory statement about your goals for study and what it means to receive the scholarship
  • maintain a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 for the duration of the scholarship
  • provide a completion statement at the conclusion of your studies.

Why this scholarship was established

The Allison Murphy Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Allison (Alli) Murphy. It is a tangible memorial to the life and contribution of Alli, whose prevailing passion, apart from her family, was the community of Geelong. In Alli’s honour, this scholarship will give women from the G21 region the opportunity to follow in Alli’s footsteps and assist them to pursue their studies in the field of political science, media or marketing at Deakin University.
