Deakin Law Students Society Scholarship
Applications open 14 September 2026 and close 5pm Wednesday 20 January 2027.
The Deakin Law Students Society Scholarship provides financial support to a high-achieving, financially disadvantaged law student in their second or later year of the degree.

Am I eligible?
Ensure you meet all criteria before submitting an application. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be:
- a domestic student
- enrolled in Trimester 1, 2027, in a Bachelor of Laws or a related double degree at Deakin University
- enrolled in the second year or later of your degree, and have completed a minimum of 8 credit points
- able to demonstrate financial hardship through the receipt of a Centrelink benefit or have a personal or family taxable income below the threshold determined by the University.
Selection criteria
The scholarship will be awarded to the student with the highest Weighted Average Mark (WAM), calculated using only the law units you have completed to date.
Why this scholarship was established
The Deakin Law Students Society Scholarship’s purpose is to offer financial support to a financially disadvantaged Law student, who is highest achieving. This scholarship has been made possible through an endowment, which was established in March 2007 by the Deakin Law Students Society.
Ready to apply?
Register and log in to Deakin's Scholarship Application Portal, then select 'Undergraduate Scholarship Application Tri/Sem 1 2027'. If eligible, your application will be considered for this scholarship and any others you may be eligible for.
Numbers of this scholarship are limited; not all eligible applicants will receive one. If you're successful, you'll be notified via email; usually within six weeks of the application closing date. Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
Supporting documents
As part of the application process you're required to upload supporting documentation by the specified closing date. These should be current, relevant and concise.
Evidence of your financial hardship is required for this scholarship.
Make sure you choose the correct document type when you upload your documents – it will make a difference. If your documents are uploaded as the incorrect type they will not be considered when assessing your application. Remember, it's quality, not quantity, you need to provide.
