'Being apprehensive about attending a university and undertaking a science based degree, I looked around for various courses. I knew I was particularly interested in pursuing education in sustainability and I was very passionate about environmental management. Deakin's online description stood out from others; it had the perfect mix of science, environmental management and the freedom to undertake various electives.

I loved the teamwork and fieldwork assessments, each assessment and field trip were so diverse. A large majority of assessments were team based, teaching students such valuable skills; communication, negotiation, problem solving, having this an integral component to many units made each assessment different and enjoyable.

Deakin often think outside of the box and look for the future, the more hands on practical and transferable skills and knowledge that you gain is something that Deakin excels in. Studying at Deakin has definitely provided me with a competitive edge as it has taught me to be a go getter.'
