Content
This unit develops students' ability to interpret, analyse and position their creative practice within theoretical, historical, cultural and contemporary contexts. Students engage with key practitioners, frameworks, case studies and critical ideas to better understand how creative work operates within broader disciplinary and cultural discourse.
Through cycles of making, contextual research, presentation, discussion and feedback, students develop the capacity to connect their own practice to relevant fields of knowledge. The unit supports students to build a critical language for articulating creative ideas, evaluating relationships between their work and the work of other practitioners, and synthesising contextual research into practice.
Students will participate in seminar and studio-based learning, structured critique, discussion, live presentation and debate. Learning is supported by readings, viewing, analysis of creative works, peer exchange and reflective preparation.

Hurdle requirements
To be eligible to obtain a pass in this unit, students must achieve an overall mark of at least 50% in assessment task 1, Live Oral Presentation with Q&A and in assessment task 2, Live Debate / Panel Discussion to evidence a minimum proficiency in the aligned discipline learning outcomes included in this unit.
