Content
This unit will utilise netnography and other tools to understand community dynamics and social patterns of interaction online. Students will learn how to gain insight to communities and social engagement in digital environments from an interdisciplinary perspective, drawing insights from platform studies, sociology, influencer studies, marketing, and psychology. Community management techniques will be analysed as part of an integrated approach to online engagement strategies, while technological affordances of emerging media will help us explain how design shapes culture, and community, and cash flows. Students will put their learnings into practice, gaining new insights to a unique community through rigorous, ethical, and innovative participant observation and reporting.
