Content
This unit develops the skills of aspiring authors and scholars of writing for young people. Students will learn about form, genre, narrative strategies, characters, settings, representation, publishing and editing through textual analysis, pitching, and workshopping exercises. The unit culminates with students producing a creative output that demonstrates their knowledge of key concepts via a short story, an excerpt from a piece of junior, middle-grade or young adult fiction, or a dummy for a picture book or graphic novel.
