In this unit you will explore the dynamic and high-stakes world of crisis, issue, and reputation management across a diverse range of sectors and industries. Through a practical, hands-on approach that bridges the gap between theory and practice, you will examine how the rapid growth of global technology and social media can alter reputations at pace and amplify issues to reach global audiences. You will critically analyse contemporary cases involving celebrities, global organisations, and public figures, and apply tools and techniques drawn from social responsibility, ethical behaviour, and proactive and reactive strategies. Core areas of focus include media relations, risk management, crisis communication, issue management, and environmental scanning - equipping you with a comprehensive toolkit to anticipate, monitor, and respond to challenges before and as they emerge. You will leave the unit equipped to navigate complex communication challenges in reputation management, conduct strategic advisory work with confidence, and defend well reasoned decisions through live interaction and supervised professional application.
