Study commitment:

Students will on average spend 300-hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

Scheduled learning activities - online:

1 x 1-hour online meeting (with adviser) per week in weeks 1, 5, 11

1 x 2-hour online seminar per week (livestreamed, recordings provided)

Content

This unit enables students to undertake a two credit-point independent research project on a topic of their choice. At key points in the trimester, students will meet with their adviser to discuss the project and their progress. Critical projects will be 10,000-words and will be based on primary and secondary sources. Creative projects will be comprised of a 7000-words (or equivalent) creative artefact and a 3000-word research essay or artist statement. Students approved for Capstone B must complete a 10,000-word draft of their thesis in ALX720 in order to continue onto ALX724 and ALX725.
