| Study commitment: | This is a Work Integrated Learning Unit. Students will on average spend 300-hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit. This will include a minimum of 200 hours (approximately 30-35 days) working in a host organisation, plus approximately 100 hours for individual reflection and assessment. |
Content
The purpose of the unit is to allow students studying for taught postgraduate qualifications in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and who are usually near the conclusion of their studies, to take up a work or volunteer placement within a host organisation in Australia or overseas. The placement will assist them to gain an understanding of a workplace environment associated with their area of study, as well as undertake a specific project which makes a meaningful contribution. The basic principle of the Internship is that it should further the interests of both the students and the host organisation.
This Internship unit offers students an opportunity to gain first-hand work experience in a region or employment sector closely associated with topics studied at university, and to examine and reflect on the practical applications of their academic study.
This Internship unit is also designated to be a capstone experience elective for all Masters students in 8 cp structures. For students doing the 16 cp (Professional) Masters this internship or the 1 cp internship (APE700 - Internship A) is to be core. This would mean that we would have three research component choices for our Masters courses: a Research Paper, a Minor Thesis (PhD Pathway) and this 2 cp Internship.

Fees and charges vary depending on the type of fee place you hold, your course, your commencement year, the units you choose to study and their study discipline, and your study load.
Tuition fees increase at the beginning of each calendar year and all fees quoted are in Australian dollars ($AUD). Tuition fees do not include textbooks, computer equipment or software, other equipment or costs such as mandatory checks, travel and stationery.
