Content
In this unit students will explore critical aspects of children’s health and wellbeing in the early childhood education and care context. Students will engage with the legislation, regulations, policies, guiding documents, and terminology that inform early childhood education contexts and teaching practices in relation to children’s holistic health and wellbeing. The application of regulatory provisions and the National Quality Framework are investigated through specific focus areas including preventative health and safety routines, sleep and rest, food safety, nutrition, physical education and health promotion. The role of the teacher is examined as an agent promoting the health and wellbeing of children.
