Content
In this unit, students will explore the range of factors that influence and support children’s engagement in learning, including the physical, relational and pedagogical environment, children’s temperament and how children’s essential needs are met. Students will develop an understanding of the origins of children’s behaviour and behaviour as a form of communication. The unit will introduce students to guidance approaches and strategies that align with the principles and values of guidance approaches to support children’s engagement in learning, including assessing the environment and children’s behaviour to ascertain how to meet children’s needs, teach prosocial behaviours and engage children in positive and meaningful learning experiences. Overall, this unit prepares students to create inclusive and effective learning environments that promote children's development and wellbeing, fostering a supportive and enriching educational experience for all children.
