Content
In this unit, students will connect theory to practice by undertaking their first substantial Professional Experience Placement (20 days) with children aged Birth-2 years. In preparation for this, students will explore infant and toddler pedagogy, with a focus on the unique context of working with infants and toddlers. Students will explore content and resource selection, age-appropriate teaching strategies and planning and assessment using the planning cycle. Students will further develop skills and strategies for engaging professionally and collaboratively during placement and will select and justify artefacts in their Professional Experience Portfolio, with reference to key documents and the Australian Professional Standards for Graduate Teachers. Students will engage in professional growth conversations as a way of demonstrating the learnings associated with this stage of their course, their most recent placement and progress towards the standards.
