Content
From Minecraft to mummy bloggers digital technologies have transformed how children are raised in Australia today. Drawing on theories from education, media and communication, science and technology studies, and sociological theories of childhood, students will develop nuanced understandings of how digital technologies are integrated into the everyday lives of diverse families and children. We will explore the challenges and opportunities digital technologies pose for the institutions around
children including, education, childcare and health services, while also analysing resources, guidelines, and policies. The unit will provide opportunities for students to reflect on their own media use as well as analyse and investigate contemporary digital
issues effecting children today. Upon completion students will have the knowledge and skills to identify and understand how digital transformations impact children and young across the diverse settings of everyday life.
