| In-person attendance requirements: | 15-days on-site professional experience (placement) per trimester in an inclusive education context Placements for this unit are scheduled across multiple placement blocks. Students will be assigned to one of these blocks and cannot choose their preferred placement window. It is the student's responsibility to ensure they are available for placement at any time within the designated placement periods, as scheduling may occur at any point within these timeframes. Please note: Placement periods may take place during or outside standard trimester teaching dates. |
Content
Advanced Inclusive Practice is the second unit in the major unit sequence of the Master of Specialist Inclusive Education. In this unit we extend the work commenced in 'EIE702 Teaching and Learning in the Inclusive Classroom' to continue to develop a deep theoretical and research-informed knowledge base of the principles and practice of inclusive education across a variety of educational contexts. Students will enhance their developing repertoire of inclusive pedagogies, augmenting their existing practice with an advanced range of analytic skills, curriculum design and assessment tools and individual, group and community strategies.
This unit also incorporates 15-days of fieldwork undertaken in an inclusive educational context.
Students will upload a selection of course outputs into their E-Portfolio.
Unit fee information

Hurdle requirements
Professional Experience Professional Experience for Preservice Teachers enrolled in School of Education courses, the Professional Experience component is assessed primarily by the site-based teacher (Mentor) who advises the Unit Chair. Satisfactory completion of the professional experience placement is required to pass this unit. Pre-Service Teachers cannot pass this unit without successful completion of the Safer Learners module.
