Content
This unit will consist of online, theory and practical components. It will focus on Secondary health and physical education discipline and curriculum. Specifically, students will further develop their understanding of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
There will be a focus on applying knowledge of the physical education content area/curriculum, formative assessment strategies, and assessment data to design instructionally aligned learning sequences and lesson plans. Pre-service teachers will also have the opportunity to organise classroom activities and provide clear directions when teaching physical education and use feedback from teachers and supervisors to improve teaching practice.

Commonwealth Prac Payment
From 1 July 2025, the Australian Government is intending to introduce the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) to assist eligible students with costs related to mandatory placements in higher education courses for teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work.
Hurdle requirements
Professional experience is a requirement of the Victorian Institution of Teaching for the preparation of teachers. In this unit you will complete 15-days of the required 80-days for the Bachelor of Health and Physical Education. Satisfactory completion of the professional experience is required in order to pass this unit.
