Content
This unit equips final-year pre-service teachers with the knowledge, skills, and strategies to successfully transition from study to professional teaching in primary schools. It focuses on fostering teacher wellbeing, understanding professional responsibilities, and developing sustainable practices for longevity in the profession. Students will explore strategies to manage their own wellbeing while supporting student wellbeing and safety within the framework of school, curriculum, and legislative requirements. The unit also addresses ethical and responsible ICT use in teaching and learning, highlighting digital safety and professionalism. Additionally, students will engage with professional learning frameworks, understanding their importance for career growth and student outcomes. The unit provides guidance on navigating school policies, administrative processes, and professional expectations at different career stages. Through reflective practice, case studies, and practical applications, students will develop resilience, professional agency, and the confidence to thrive as graduate teachers. This unit ensures they enter the workforce prepared for the challenges and opportunities of a long and fulfilling teaching career.
