Content
Students are introduced to caring for the woman who experiences complexities in pregnancy, labour and birth and/or postnatal period related to existing or emerging complication or pathology.
Students will extend their understanding of physiological changes that occur across the continuum of care, to inform assessment and midwifery care where the risk of maternal or fetal complications has been identified. The role of collaboration within a multidisciplinary care model will be explored using the Australian College of Midwives' National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral.
During a 168-hour Midwifery Practice Experience, students will have the opportunity to further develop mindsets and apply knowledge and skills learned in this unit and previous units.
