Content
This unit is one of two within the Clinical Studies Cluster: Year 2. Students will develop distinct knowledge and skills required to support people who are experiencing mental health issues across the lifespan.
The concepts of recovery, contemporary treatment approaches, trauma-informed care, therapeutic communication, impact of mental health issues on self and others, ethical issues, legal frameworks, and professional boundaries when providing mental health care across a variety of health care settings will be addressed.
During a three (3) week Professional Experience Placement, students will have the opportunity to further develop professional mindsets and apply knowledge and skills learned in this unit and previous units.

Commonwealth Prac Payment
From 1 July 2025, the Australian Government is intending to introduce the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) to assist eligible students with costs related to mandatory placements in higher education courses for teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work.
