| Study commitment: | Students will spend on average 300 hours over the trimester undertaking synchronous and asynchronous teaching and learning activities for this unit. This will include 20 hours synchronous learning activities and a 200-hour professional experience placement. Students will spend 12 hours undertaking guided asynchronous learning activities. |

Content
This is a capstone unit and is the final unit in the Clinical Studies Cluster. In this unit students are provided with the opportunity to consolidate and extend knowledge and skills and apply them to a variety of situations.
Students will further develop skills in advanced communication techniques for safe and quality care, prioritisation of care, responding to patient deterioration, and managing patient symptoms.
During a five (5) week Professional Experience Placement students will have the opportunity to further develop and apply relevant knowledge and skills learned in this unit and all previous units in preparation to practice as a registered nurse in a variety of health care settings.

Commonwealth Prac Payment
From 1 July 2025, the Australian Government is intending to introduce the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) to assist eligible students with costs related to mandatory placements in higher education courses for teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work.
