| Study commitment: | Students will spend on average 300 hours over the trimester undertaking synchronous and asynchronous teaching and learning activities for this unit. This will include 28 hours of synchronous learning activities (1 x 2hr seminar, 1 x 2hr simulation each week) and a 160 hour professional experience placement. Students will spend 14 hours undertaking guided asynchronous learning activities. This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site. |

Content
This unit is one of two within the Clinical Studies Cluster: Year 3. The unit aims to provide opportunities for students to develop knowledge and skills related specifically to the assessment and management of patients experiencing chronic conditions and multi-comorbidity across the lifespan in a variety of settings.
Students will apply an understanding of pathophysiology to select chronic conditions. Using the nursing process students will assess, identify risk, manage symptoms, apply and evaluate interventions to optimise outcomes and minimise the impact of chronic conditions on patients’ wellbeing and functional abilities.
During a four (4) week Professional Experience Placement students will have the opportunity to develop mindsets and apply knowledge and skills learned in this unit and previous units.

Commonwealth Prac Payment
From 1 July 2025, the Australian Government is intending to introduce the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) to assist eligible students with costs related to mandatory placements in higher education courses for teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work.
