Content
This unit will provide students with foundational knowledge and skills in counselling that can be applied to a range of client presentations through a variety of different platforms (audio only, in-person, and videoconference). Students will be taught the essential theories underlying contemporary counselling philosophy, with a focus on person-centred theory, and learn to find, synthesize, integrate, and critically reflect on the research relating to effectiveness. Counselling micro-skills will be taught in detail and practised throughout the unit, with the use and adaptation of each skill considered according to the platform used.
