Content

This unit is designed to extend and consolidate the students' knowledge of biomechanics within physical activity, exercise, and sport. The unit investigates current and emerging methods of quantifying human movement, with consideration of appropriate application to solve movement-related questions and problems. The unit also examines neuro- and musculoskeletal mechanics, surface and equipment mechanics, and its relevance to optimum human performance and injury prevention. Areas of specialisation in biomechanics practice and related occupations (e.g. ergonomics) will be explored, with particular focus on research, clinical, and high-performance sport industries.
