| In-person attendance requirements: | Students are required to attend and participate in on-campus practical intensive teaching periods. These periods are 2 to 5 days long and are held at our Burwood (Melbourne) and Waurn Ponds (Geelong) campuses. There is usually a practical intensive in the middle of trimester 1 and at the end of trimester 2. Specific dates and details are announced on course and unit CloudDeakin sites. |

Content
This unit will provide students with the theoretical principles and practical skills required to physically prepare athletes for competition. This unit will cover the design of training programs to improve muscular hypertrophy, strength, power, speed, agility and energy systems, as well as design of warm ups, cool downs and mobility training. Additionally, this unit will examine methods of periodising and tapering training as part of a long-term training development program. Students will also learn how to coach a range of powerlifting and weightlifting movements.
