Content

This unit is a core component of the Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion, the combined courses with Commerce and Nursing, and the Public Health major pathway in the Bachelor of Health Sciences, and is also offered as an elective to students across the University. Through this unit, students will be introduced to key characteristics of disease types and classifications from a public health and health promotion lens. Students will examine factors influencing disease (including determinants of health), understand several strategies used to prevent and control diseases, and apply theory and contemporary models to explain these approaches.
