Content
In this unit you will explore the connections between human health, the environment and sustainable development. You will examine key sustainability challenges such as climate change, ecosystem health, food systems, and consider how these issues influence the health and wellbeing of communities now and into the future.
Using systems thinking, which looks at how environmental, social and economic factors interact, you will explore ideas such as sustainable cities and communities, circular economies that reduce waste by reusing and repurposing resources and planetary health which focuses on the links between the health of people and the health of the planet. You will also examine how governments, communities and health professionals respond to sustainability challenges through policy, planning and action.
Learning in this unit is activity based and includes opportunities for collaboration, creative expression and reflection on your future career pathways. You will develop practical skills in analysing sustainability challenges, communicating ideas and considering how you can contribute to healthier and more sustainable communities in your future career.
