Prerequisite:	Completion of 6 H__7 units before commencing the practicum. For M703: Completion of at least 8 units, of which at least 4 must be H coded.

Study commitment:	Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit. This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.
Scheduled learning activities - campus:	On-campus: 1x 3 hour on-campus seminar in week 1 (attendance required as part of hurdle requirement and for completion of AT1). 1x1 hour drop in seminar online week 11. Professional experience (placement) X 120 hours across the trimester. Online: 1x 3 hour online seminar in week 1 (attendance required as part of hurdle requirement and for completion of AT1). 1x1 hour drop in seminar online week 11. In-person attendance requirements:	In order to complete AT1A and to complete the hurdle requirement for this unit students must attend seminar 1 for the unit. Attendance at an alternative Week 1 seminar may be possible with evidence of inability to attend the scheduled seminar

Content

HSH755 Postgraduate Health Practicum provides students with the opportunity to undertake an authentic experience of postgraduate-level work, to develop knowledge, generic skills and graduate attributes that enhance future employment. Students will complete a practicum in an area of public health, health promotion, health economics, disability and inclusion and/or health and human services management.

The practicum, through the FreelancingHUB or in a host organisation, will comprise of 120 placement hours and completion of unit assessments.

Support for the unit is provided through the Unit Chair, Unit site and email. The unit site is used for the delivery of Unit resources; academic assessment and feedback; and administrative purposes, including communication with enrolled students.

Students enrolled in this unit are ambassadors for their courses as well as for Deakin University. The highest standards of professional and personal conduct are expected at all times. Students need to achieve a pass in each of the assessment tasks to successfully pass the unit. Once this is achieved the student will be awarded an ungraded PASS for the unit.

Hurdle requirements

Students need to achieve a pass in each component of each assessment task to successfully pass the unit. This includes attending the Week 1 seminar in order to complete AT1A.

*NOTE: Re-submission of assessment tasks may be possible if a passing grade is not achieved in the first attempt. Attendance at an alternative Week 1 seminar may be possible with evidence of inability to attend the scheduled seminar.
