Content
This unit is the first placement unit in the Master of Child Play Therapy. In this unit students gain the underpinning knowledge and skills to engage children in therapeutic play using directive approaches.
The unit commences with a 5- day on campus teaching intensive workshop that includes specialised training in foundational skills. Following the intensive, students undertake their first supervised clinical placement with suitable child referrals and monitor change through the therapeutic process.
Alongside clinical placement hours, students are required to undertake regular group and individual supervision with a Deakin-appointed supervisor and must complete and pass the Placement Assessment and Review (PAR) to successfully complete the unit.
