Content
This unit will introduce students to occupational therapy and the concept of humans as occupational beings through critical reflection on self, culture, power, and practice.
Students will examine how personal, social, cultural, and systemic structures shape health, occupational participation, and occupational therapy practice itself. Emphasis is placed on challenging dominant narratives and engaging with diverse ways of knowing and being. Through reflective activities, readings, and community-based learning, students will begin to understand themselves as future occupational therapists capable of contributing to culturally safe, inclusive, and socially responsive practice across varied contexts.
