Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

Scheduled learning activities - campus:

This unit is run as a four-week intensive block:

  • 2 x 2-hour weekly lectures delivered on-campus over four weeks
  • 2 x 3-hour weekly seminars delivered on-campus delivered over 4x weeks at the end of the trimester
  • Online independent and collaborative learning activities delivered over 4x weeks at the end of the trimester.

Content

This unit prepares students for the transition from occupational therapy student to practitioner. Through critical reflection, students will explore their evolving professional identity, assess their competencies, and clarify their career aspirations to inform future development and employment pathways. Students will develop strategies to support their entry into the workforce including job interview preparation, and the creation of a professional online presence. Students will also examine the importance of supervision, peer support, and leadership in occupational therapy practice, with a focus on identifying and engaging in effective professional relationships. Through a combination of reflective and applied learning tasks, students will consolidate their academic and clinical experiences, demonstrating readiness for practice in alignment with professional standards and contemporary workforce expectations.
