Content
This unit will support students to develop their capacity to work with people who have swallowing/ mealtime difficulties. Content will encompass all areas of swallowing as relevant to speech pathology practice, including eating, drinking, saliva management, oral health and mealtime difficulties. Students will engage with cases that support them to incorporate perspectives of people with a disability, legislation, research evidence and ethical guidelines into their decision-making. Students will learn and apply evidence-based assessment and intervention methods within a simulated placement on campus, and will work collaboratively with peers from other professions to problem-solve interdisciplinary client management.

- Simulated Placement Competency Assessment and Attendance - students must pass this assessment and meet the attendance requirements (ungraded pass/ungraded fail) in order to pass the unit.
