Study commitment:	Students will on average spend 300 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit. This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.
Scheduled learning activities - campus:	a 3-hour online Honours orientation session in December of previous year. a 2-hour online lecture in Weeks 1 - 10. attendance at a 1-day on-campus (Geelong Waterfront) intensive in Week 7. a 1-day (7 hours) online seminars in Week 11 for student presentations. maintain regular contact with their supervisor from O-week.

Content

The unit in conjunction with HSW417 requires students, independently under the guidance of a research supervisor, to design and conduct an independent piece of research. This requires students to identify and refine a research topic and research aims/questions, design a research project, apply for ethics approval, select and apply an appropriate methodology, collect and analyse data and disseminate research findings. Students will be required to present their findings in oral and written form and to produce a thesis document for examination.
