Content
This unit introduces the core principles of financial management and how financial decisions drive business performance and value. The unit focuses on agency problems and governance, risk and return, capital budgeting, capital structure, financing options, cost of capital, valuation, and payout policy. Students apply these concepts to practical business scenarios and develop the analytical skills required to evaluate investment and financing decisions. A two-week IPO simulation provides an experiential learning opportunity in which students make strategic, operational and funding decisions as they grow a business towards public listing. The unit emphasises applied learning, decision-making and real-world relevance.
