Content
This study tour will examine selected topics in criminal procedure and criminal justice in a selected overseas jurisdiction (the particular jurisdiction may vary from year to year). The specialist curriculum content will be taught either by Deakin Law staff or expert academics at the host institution. In addition, local practitioners - judge, lawyers, prosecutors, criminal justice personnel - will provide insights into the practical workings of the criminal justice system. Students will make site visits which make include visits to courts, prisons and iconic legal landmarks. The course will provide an excellent basis on which to develop a comparative perspective on the operation of the criminal justice system in another jurisdiction and Victoria. While based in the overseas location, students will live in a university environment and be exposed to different styles of instruction in law.
