Brands are everywhere — but what actually makes them work, and when do they fail? This unit takes students behind the surface of branding to examine how brands are built, managed, and how they evolve or fail in competitive markets. Drawing on current research on branding as well as current industry practice, students will learn how successful brands are built and managed across corporate and personal contexts, and develop the skills to analyse and measure brand performance using key industry metrics. The unit engages with real branding challenges across a range of corporate and personal contexts. By the end of this unit, students will be equipped to read brands with precision and apply grounded frameworks to real-world situations.

Explores how brands are built, evaluated, and evolve. Students learn to uncover what makes a brand resonate, analyse brand performance, and develop strategies that strengthen brand equity and drive long-term value.
