Content
This unit on enterprise risk management takes a very holistic view of the sources, constituents and measures of risk. It also provides a systematic overview of the various approaches and tools to proactively manage organisational risk to ensure the continued delivery of expected results to stakeholders. Topics align with relevant risk management guidelines like ISO31000 as well as sustainability assurance frameworks like ISO14001 and the Global Reporting Initiative. Weekly topics take a macro (economy-level) as well as micro (firm-level) perspective and also consider risks that can potentially emanate from emerging issues like artificial intelligence adoption. The unit aims to train students to identify how and where risks can arise within some of the key functional areas of managing an enterprise, like finance, operations, project management and human resources, and aims to equip students with a take-home skillset that they can readily apply in their work situations to perform a preliminary functional risk analysis.
