Content

This unit introduces students to the technical, operational and environmental challenges associated with the green computing. It explores the environmental impact of hardware, software, IT infrastructure, and digital processes, and equips students with the ability to critically assess and apply energy-efficient strategies in these domains. Students will analyse and evaluate trade-offs in the design and implementation of green computing solutions, considering factors such as performance, scalability, and energy consumption. Through practical and project-based learning, students will design, implement, and deploy sustainable software solutions that align with energy-aware and environmentally responsible computing practices. The unit also emphasises systems thinking, ethical considerations, and human-centred design approaches to support the adoption of green technologies across diverse industries.
